color: var( --e-global-color-text ); font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; font-weight: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-weight );\">Where the Wismar youth detention center stands today, right in the heart of the historic old town,\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 17px; color: var( --e-global-color-text ); font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; font-weight: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-weight );\">was once the stallion stable of the magnificent princely court.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p>Built around 1506 and 1553 from two houses in different architectural styles, the F\u00fcrstenhof served the Dukes of Mecklenburg as a <br \/>city residence befitting its status.<\/p><p>With the transfer of Wismar to the Swedish crown in 1653, the princely court was transformed into a place of jurisdiction.\u00a0<\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 17px; color: var( --e-global-color-text ); font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; font-weight: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-weight );\">But the history of the building, in which\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 17px; color: var( --e-global-color-text ); font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; font-weight: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-weight );\">today the JAA Wismar, took its own course.<\/span><\/p><p>Around 1890 it was built as a prison (we also found records of two buildings, probably the poorhouse was right next to the prison).\u00a0<\/p><p>Kellerstra\u00dfe, where the building is located, had two house numbers at the time.<\/p><p>There is evidence that there was a poorhouse at number 2 in 1903.\u00a0<\/p><p>In 1935, the building became the property of the German Reich.\u00a0<\/p><p>After the Second World War, in 1958, it became public property and served as a remand center for the F\u00fcrstenhof district court.<\/p><p>Wismar, the 776-year-old Hanseatic city, can look back on an eventful past.<\/p><p>Its historic old town, with its magnificent churches such as the Holy Spirit Church, St. Mary's Church, St. George's Church and St. Nikolai's Church, has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000.\u00a0<\/p><p>The market square, with its historic buildings such as the Wasserkunst, the town hall, the Alte Schwede and the Reuterhaus, is the largest in the city. <br \/>Northern Germany.<\/p><p>On July 1, 1992, the Wismar youth detention center with 19 detention places was finally opened in Kellerstra\u00dfe 1.<br \/>Today, the JAA Wismar stands as a testimony to the rich history of this Hanseatic city.\u00a0<\/p><p>Embedded in the unique backdrop of the old town, it reminds us of the changing times that Wismar has experienced and at the same time reminds us of the importance of law and order in a free and democratic society.<br \/>In our building, we try to build up the history of this listed building piece by piece and present it to our guests by means of pictures and texts.<\/p><p>In our hotel, we not only want to offer our guests comfortable accommodation, but also bring a piece of history to life. <br \/>The atmosphere of our hotel and its location in the historic old town of Wismar help you to enjoy the city with all its facets.<\/p><p>Your well-being is our top priority.
