Built between 1579 and 1602 according to plans by Philipp Brandin, it once served as the heart of the city's water supply.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-sourcepos=\"5:1-5:320\">The artistically designed banners in Latin and German bear witness to the importance of water for the city's inhabitants. Today, the water art is a popular photo motif and a reminder of a bygone era.<\/p>\n<p data-sourcepos=\"5:1-5:320\">From the first simple wells to a wooden water pipe and the magnificent stone structure - supplying the city with drinking water was always an important issue. Despite numerous difficulties and setbacks, the people of Wismar finally succeeded in building this impressive structure.
